PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

1. Product Introduction

This concrete thin-layer pavement repair mortar is specially formulated for the timely repair of concrete pavement distresses such as surface pitting, hollowing, peeling, spalling, cracking and exposed reinforcement. It is applied directly to the distressed area and combines high compressive strength with excellent bond strength, enabling thin-layer repair that will not crush or debond under high-speed, heavy-load traffic.

2. Key Features

2.1  Practical performance

Application requires neither complex construction equipment nor specialised skills, and no prolonged traffic closure is necessary — the repaired section can be opened to traffic 24 hours after application. As no excavation of the distressed area is required, substantial savings are achieved in construction cost, material cost and maintenance time; the propagation of pavement distress is effectively delayed and the service life of the pavement is extended. In addition, the repaired surface closely matches the colour of the existing cement concrete pavement, giving a satisfactory aesthetic appearance.

2.2  Bonding performance

Through the inherent bonding capability of the material and the surface-energy principle, the repair layer reacts with the existing concrete to form a monolithic whole, thereby developing a very high bond strength. The bond strength reaches 1.6 MPa after 7 days.

2.3  Durability

The mortar shows rapid early performance development and high early strength, with no later-age strength regression. The material itself offers excellent waterproofing, corrosion resistance and ultraviolet (UV) resistance; its resistance to ageing is more than five times that of the original cement concrete. Its performance will not degrade earlier than that of the original concrete, and neither bond strength nor compressive strength is lost through ageing.

2.4  Compressive performance

Once cured, the concrete thin-layer repair mortar provides very high compressive and flexural strength. When applied in summer, the compressive strength reaches 25 MPa at 2 hours and continues to increase thereafter, ultimately exceeding 90 MPa. It provides effective reinforcement and support to the distressed area: a repair thickness of only 3 mm is sufficient to satisfy the compressive requirements of roads subject to non-special loads, and no crushing or debonding occurs under high-speed, heavy-load traffic.

3. Technical Specification

Property
Value
Bond strength (7 days) 1.6MPa
Compressive strength at 2 h (summer application) ≥25MPa
Ultimate compressive strength ≥ 90MPa
Recommended application thickness ≥ 3mm

4. Application Method

4.1  Surface preparation procedure

1.  Cleaning: first remove all loose material from hollowing, peeling and cracked areas; incomplete removal will impair the subsequent bond strength to the substrate. Areas shallower than 3 mm, excessively smooth areas and areas contaminated with oil shall be roughened. Roughening may be carried out with a dedicated scarifying machine or manually with a pointed hammer.

2.  Sweeping: remove loose dirt and debris from the substrate, then flush the surface clean with high-pressure water. During flushing, the slurry shall be washed out of the working area and prevented from flowing back.

3.  Pre-wetting: after washing, retain water on the working area for a period of time so that the substrate is thoroughly wetted, until water is no longer absorbed. The working surface must be kept moist at the time of application.

4.2  Basic requirements

1.  Consumption: approximately 1 kg per square metre at a repair thickness of 1 mm.

2.  Water: use clean, uncontaminated water.

3.  Application thickness: 3 mm or greater is recommended.

4.3  Equipment

Mortar mixer or hand-held mixing tool (a modified electric hand drill); high-pressure water washing equipment; substrate cleaning tools; sponge or clean cloth (for removing excess water); two or more metal mixing buckets; several trowels.
